La Catrina Canta is a mexican project “Dia de los Muertos”, the Day of the Dead.

The custom became the Day of the Dead 2008 in theRepresentative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity inherited. The celebrations in their traditional form are considered threatened, as they are displaced by the commercial form of the Halloween festival. According to ancient Mexican belief, the dead come back once a year, to celebrate with the people, to eat and drink.
Our project continues this tradition, and interweaves it with new elements and musical influences. La Catrina Canta is also a song about one's own mortality and a declaration of love to life.
The flowers/ las flores
Die Blumen / las flores take on a classic from the anti-war song: tell me, where the flowers are. A play against warmongering, against the ubiquitous hate speech, against the emerging nationalism across Europe, against the seducers and great simplifiers. The piece also addresses violence against women in one world, in which the law of the strong seems to increasingly apply again.
Object art
Momentum: Mixed media – Acrylic and organic materials like yogurt, chocolate, Wine, blossoms, Sesame and the like are brought together to form compositions on glass plates, lit with different lamps and then photographed. Each work only exists physically until it is photographed.

Sometimes a song will accompany you throughout your childhood and will not leave you throughout your life. You sing it to yourself countless times. For the Mexican singer Patricia Trujano, one of these songs is an Argentine tango: One.
