The Institute for Theater Transmission is an invisible institution.
In the projects, in which it worked and is also currently working, it is intentionally left nameless. his goal is, to work undetected from within.
The institute was 2005 founded by Alexander Uhl and Graciela Lopez Herrera in Mexico City and is based there and in Vienna. It touches the strong, social component, which is inherent in the theater, and is based on the regulative, which theater can represent in a social sense.
According to its origin, transmission means “a device for transmitting power”.
this means, that the native force, that can be drawn from the theater, on external, areas that are rather foreign to the theater can be transferred and made usable.
The second meaning of transmission is “the transmission of radiation (light) through a substance (z.B. Glass) without changing the frequency ". It can therefore be referred to as penetration. The effectiveness of the theater should be decoupled from its original place of meaning, and be integrated into our social gatherings, permeate our lives in the real sense, without but, that the essence “theater” changes its “frequency”, is therefore significantly modified.
DasInstitute for Theater Transmission (HERE) seeks to illuminate those concepts from various aspects (sociological, psychological, metalinguistic and theatrical aspects) and to realize this in social projects.
